This beautiful Silver Maple Leaf coin features the widely recognized maple leaf design and a "30" mark to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series. The coin is completely plated with Ruthenium and partly with pure gold. The precious metal Ruthenium is a member of the Platinum Group and worldwide very rare. “Burning Series”Since first being minted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988, the design of the Silver Maple Leaf has undergone annual changes that include proof releases, various privy marks, holographic enhancements, and commemorative variations. However, the basic features of the Silver coin have remained the same since its inception. The obverse of the coin depicts the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II, and the reverse of the coin showcases the signature Maple Leaf so closely associated with Canadian nationalism and reflective of Canadian pride.
The face value and date are displayed on the obverse. The portrait of Queen Elizabeth II shown here was created by Susanna Blunt. The background is filled with a pattern of extremely fine lines.
The maple leaf design on the reverse has been modified for the 30th anniversary. The maple leaf at the center is accompanied by a large "30." The silver content is visible on this side along with a maple leaf privy mark..
