| Located south of Cuba, northeast of Costa Rica, east of Mexico, and northwest of Jamaica is the Cayman Islands. In total, there are three islands in the chain that remained largely uninhabited in the Caribbean Sea until the 17th Century. The total territory covers only 102 square miles, and is famed for having more international corporations registered within its boundaries than human inhabitants. The obverse of all Cayman Islands silver coins includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Cayman Islands are a British territory, with the Queen serving as monarch and Helen Kilpatrick as the local governor. Her Majesty’s right-profile portrait is the 1998 design of Ian Rank-Broadley’s creation. On the reverse of all 2017 1 ounce Cayman Islands Marlin silver coins features the image of a massive marlin as its crests the surface of the ocean’s waters.
