This amazing silver coin 2 oz Silver coin is dedicated to the now vintage cassette tape and its inventor Lou Ottens.It was invented by the Dutch electronics giant, Philips, back in 1963, and these small cassettes went on to become ubiquitous around the globe. There even remains a hardcore fanbase to this day, although not to the same level that vinyl records enjoy, mainly because the compact cassette was never about ultimate audio quality, preferring to focus on portability above all.

The reverse of the coin is a perfect and detailed reproduction of a cassette tape and features the inscriptions “A SIDE” – indicating the side of the cassette, and “LOU OTTENS 1926-2021” – the name of its inventor along with his year of birth and death.

The obverse of the coin is a reproducion of a musicassette too and includes the staff with a treble clef and some musical notes, the Coat of Arms of Niue and the inscriptions: “B SIDE”, “NIUE ISLAND” – the country of issue, “2022” – the year of issue and “2 DOLLARS” – the face value.
