The reverse of the coin features the beautiful image of a Michelangelo's Creation of Adam.
The obverse of the coin reproduces the colorized X-ray image of touching hands and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the right. All around, the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name oft he Queen, "COOK ISLANDS" – the issuing country, "5 DOLLARS" – the face value and "2023" – the year of issue.
Let’s talk about a much more modern invention done by Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895 – the X-rays. He discovered their medical use when he made a picture of his wife’s hand on a photographic plate formed due to X-rays. The photograph of his wife’s hand was the first photograph of a human body part using X-rays.
