“Libertad Series”
Libertad coins are gold and silver Mexican bullion coins. They are sold in 1/20, 1/10, 1/4, 1/2, and 1 troy ounce (ozt) weights for both gold and silver coins; and 2, 5 ozt and 1 kilogram weights for silver coins. The coins are .999 fine silver or fine gold. On one side of the coin is a winged Victoria of Mexican Independence Victory Column in front of a landscape with the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl. The opposite side shows the coat of arms of Mexico. The new version has the Winged Victoria in another angle, and the opposite side shows the coat of arms of Mexico surrounded by historical Mexican coats of arms. The original design is based in Centenario gold Mexican coin.
The reverse of the coin depicts the beautiful Winged Victoria, the goddess of victory in ancient Roman religion over a background with the Aztec Calendar. All around the reverse of the coin, the inscriptions: “1 ONZA” – the weight of the coin, “PLATA PURA”, “2017” – the year of issue, “LEY” and “.999” – the fineness of the Silver. The coin's obverse depicts the Coat of Arms of Mexico and the inscription: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” – the issuing country.
