Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was born on July 6, 1907 in Coyoacán (Mexico) and is the daughter of Wilhelm Kahlo, to whom she is very affectionately attached, a simple and friendly man, a Jew, a lover of literature and music and a painter who emigrated to Mexico from Hungary. He is not rich and therefore works in various professions, including the salesman in a bookshop, with alternating fortunes, then becomes a talented photographer and probably inspires his daughter Frida a certain way of "framing" the image. As soon as he arrived in Mexico, Wilhelm Kahlo changed his name to Guillermo and after a first marriage from which he remained a widower, in 1898 he married Calderon y Gonzales, daughter of a Mexican and an Indian, born in Oaxaca, an ancient Aztec city. The newlyweds have four children and Frieda is the most lively and rebellious daughter of the four. Once she was an adult, she changed her original name Frieda - a very common name in Germany that comes from the word "Fried" and means "peace" - to Frida to challenge Germany's Nazi policy.
The reverse of the coin features the wonderful coloured portrait of Frida Kahlo surrounded by some motifs from her paintings. On the top of the reverse the inscription “FRIDA” – the name of the painter. The obverse of the coin features a beautiful blossom flower and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN” – the issuing country, “1000 FRANCS CFA” – the face value, “Ag 999” – the purity of the Silver and “VIVA LA VIDA”..
