This beautiful silver coin represents the same god in Roman and Greek culture, and features Hermes and Mercury. Mercury, like Hermes, was the god of circulation - of people, goods and words. Under Greek influence it seems the two gods were linked early on, with the myths of Hermes being transferred to that of Mercury. His cult was established in very early Rome to solicit divine protection of the emerging grain trade.

The reverse of the coin features both the Greek and the Roman gods Hermes and Mercury, gods of financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication. The design also includes a unique green resin filling and the inscriptions: HERMES” and “MERCURY”.
