This breathtaking 1 Oz Silver coin is the new release in the “Space Blue Edition” series, dedicated to some of the most famous world coins.  The Space Blue ennoblement creates a transparent surface, which allows to keep all of the details and the mirror surface undisturbed. That kind of innovative technique creates a noble and metallic character on the surface.

Kookaburra
Kookaburras are terrestrial tree kingfishers of the genus Dacelo native to Australia and New Guinea, which grow to between 28–42 cm (11–17 in) in length. The name is a loanword from Wiradjuri guuguubarra, onomatopoeic of its call. The loud distinctive call of the laughing kookaburra is widely used as a stock sound effect in situations that involve an Australian bush setting. They are found in habitats ranging from humid forest to arid savanna, as well as in suburban areas with tall trees or near running water. Even though they belong to the larger group known as “kingfishers”, kookaburras are not closely associated with water. The genus Dacelo was introduced by the English zoologist William Elford Leach in 1815. The type species is the laughing kookaburra. The name Dacelo is an anagram of Alcedo, the Latin word for a kingfisher. A molecular study published in 2017 found that the genus Dacelo, as currently defined, is paraphyletic.

The reverse of the coin depicts a kookaburra  perched on a branch during sunset. The branch is submerged in a river, which is cast with brilliant  hues from the setting sun and lined with wetland grass and a sprouting tree. On the top of the reverse, the inscription: “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” – the name of the coin and on the bottom, the inscriptions: “2019” – the year of issue and “1oz 9999 SILVER” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver. The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “AUSTRALIA” – the issuing country and “1 DOLLAR” – the face value.

This coin is no longer legal tender because it is an adapted/altered version of an original “legal tender”, enhanced by a private Mint, which is not related in any way to an original Mint.
