The original collection box for all nine coins of the series was included with the purchase of the first issue "The Sun".
The fifth issue of the Solar System Series is dedicated to Mars. The motive of the dome shaped coin depicts a colored and detailed image of the planet Mars which is illuminated by sun rays. The reverse features the inscription "THE SOLAR SYSTEM", the fineness, the year of issue and the American Bald Eagle. Earth's neighboring planet is the fourth planet from the sun in our solar system. With a diameter of nearly 6,800 km, it is only half the size of Earth. Mars is a terrestrial planet with mountains, volcanoes and ice-covered polar caps. It's cold on Mars, with violent dust storms blowing across its surface at wind speeds of up to 400 kilometers per hour. The temperature fluctuations are extreme: between minus 125 and plus 35 degrees Celsius, in places within one day. There is no dense atmosphere that could allow for more balanced temperatures similar to those on Earth. Because of its color, which is due to iron oxides, it is also called "The Red Planet". The limited silver proof coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
