Pig
The Pig (豬) is the twelfth and the last sign of the Earthly Branches. In the continuous Sexagenary cycle, every twelfth year corresponds to Hai, and is commonly called “the Year of the Pig” (豬年). There are five types of Pigs, named after the Chinese elements. In order, they are: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth. In the Japanese zodiac and Tibetan zodiac, the Pig is replaced by the boar which is technically a pig. In the Dai zodiac, the Pig is replaced by the elephant. In the Gurung zodiac, the Pig is replaced by the deer, no close relation to a pig.
The reverse of the coin depicts two Gold plated pigs facing each other with a beautiful Pink Freshwater Pearl. On top of the reverse, the inscription: “YEAR OF THE PIG”. On the bottom, the inscription: “$10” – the face value. The obverse of the coin features the Fiji Coat of Arms and the inscriptions: “FIJI” – the issue country, “1oz Ag 999” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver and “2019” – the year of issue.
