Introducing our third release in our Woodland Spirits series, this year’s animal is the Raccoon Dog. Apparently named as this dog resembles a Raccoon with the distinctive “bandit” markings around the eyes, although it is more closely related to foxes. They can be found over a wide habitat and adapt well to many climates.

They are the only dogs known to hibernate and do so in areas that have a colder climate. Raccoon Dogs are omnivores and regularly can be found climbing trees to find food. They are also monogamous and usually give birth to 6-8 pups at a time. This 1 oz silver proof showcases the Raccoon Dog and its familiar face surrounded by the wildflowers that characterize this series. Mintage of this legal tender Mongolian coin is limited to only 1500.
