Spider-Man is Marvel Comics' #1 character. He first appeared in the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962) in the Silver Age of Comic Books. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artisit Steve Ditko. Lee and Ditko conceived the character as an orphan being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and as a teenager, having to deal with the normal struggles of adolescence in addition to those of a costumed crime-fighter. Spider-Man's creators gave him super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using wrist-mounted devices of his own invention, which he calls "web-shooters", and react to danger quickly with his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his foes
On the reverse side of the Spider-Man 1 oz silver coin you'll find an image of your favorite web-slinger along with engravings of the Spider-Man logo and the mint mark. The obverse of the 2017 1 oz Spider-Man Silver Coin features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty's image was crafted in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, and it represents the fourth-generation image of the Queen on commonwealth coinage. These coins are a product of S&A Partners, the worldwide leaders in licensed, legal-tender coins. The coins have been struck at the Perth Mint. Located in Perth, Western Australia, the mint is the nation's oldest operating mint facility and was once part of the British Royal Mint system.
