Celebrating Canadian Fun and Festivities series is your month-by-month exploration of Canada, where life is a four-season adventure.
- Fourth coin in a new 12-part series. This 12-coin series highlights some of the fun activities and festivities that proudly make Canada a four-season destination. The fifth coin shows a Canada in bloom, featuring red and yellow tulips that symbolize the start of a fun-filled season of flower festivals.
- Stylized icons frame the reverse. There’s a stylized icon for each month’s theme. Together, these engraved symbols form a frame that is the common feature on all 12 coins in this series.
About the first coin design:
Designed by Canadian artist Steve Hepburn, the first coin in your 12-coin series features a fireworks display on a January night, just above a side view of the colorfully lit Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The image is framed by stylized icons that represent popular outdoor activities and sights in Canada: Niagara Falls winter lights; Christmas tree; rodeo; wine tasting; dog sledding; folk music; cherry blossom; maple syrup tasting; whale watching; tulips; coastal drive; and aurora borealis.
The obverse features the year “2019” and face value “3 DOLLARS”, and the framed effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.”.
