Dog The Dog is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Dog is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol . The character 狗 refers to the actual animal while 戌 refers to the zodiac animal.
The reverse of the coin incorporates an inner panel design of a Dog detailed in pure Australia Opal. The outer panel of the coin depicts a collection of stylised leaves and flowers. On top of the reverse, the inscription: “YEAR OF THE DOG” – the name of the coin. On the bottom, the inscriptions: “狗” – Dog in Chinese character, “2018” – the year of issue and “1 OZ 9999 SILVER” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “AUSTRALIA” – the issuing country and “1 DOLLAR” – the face value.
