CELEBRATE THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER IN STUNNING SILVER!

 In 2017, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Silver Proof Coin Series II celebrates the Year of the Rooster, the tenth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957,1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, and 2017. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be hardworking, loyal, honest, and sociable.

Struck from 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, no more than 5000 1 oz coins will be released worldwide. 

The coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

 DESIGN

The reverse of the coin depicts a rooster, a hen, and three chicks standing among bamboo foliage and flowers. The Chinese character for ‘rooster’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Rooster’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.

 PRESENTATION

Each individual coin and three-coin set is housed in a stylish red and black presentation case and themed shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
