Product Overview
2016-P Australia $1 1 oz. Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle NGC MS70
(Exclusive Mercanti Signed ANA Label)
This 2016-P Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle was issued by Australia. It was struck at the Perth Mint and weighs 1 Troy oz. It's made of .999 fine silver. This series has only been going for a few years, but it's gaining popularity. Part of this is due to the fact that John Mercanti actually created the eagle design for this coin.erse
The design on the obverse displays Liberty making her way across the horizon with one arm extended while the stars and stripes of our flag flow around her. This design is the work of Adolph A. Weinman.
The reverse features a bald eagle design. This heraldic bald eagle was created by John Mercanti. If you look at its talons, you can see it's holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. There are 13 stars above its head to represent the original colonies.
Stunning Work from Mercanti
The obverse of this coin displays the same design as other Australian coins. It shows Ian Rank-Broadley's depiction of Queen Elizabeth II and the face value.
On the reverse, a wedge tailed eagle can be seen. This large bird of prey is highly detailed and in this design it is perched at the top of a tree. The inscriptions on this side list the date, weight, purity, and mintmark.
