Product Overview

The Silver Libertad was introduced in 1982 by the Mexican Mint, which is the oldest minting institution in the Americas. Today, the Libertad is produced in both gold and silver. In addition to the BU version, the Libertad is also available with proof, reverse proof, and antique finishes. While the Libertad signifies great national pride for the people of Mexico, it is a coin of such beauty that its appeal transcends all borders.

  • Obverse: Mexican Coat of Arms - an eagle with a serpent in its beak and talon. Inscription: "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS."
  • Reverse: Angel of Independence holding a laurel crown and broken chains in her hands. A Mexican landscape features its two famous volcanoes, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Engravings include the weight, purity, and year of mintage.
  • The limited Libertad Silver Set is delivered in the original wooden box including a certificate of authenticity from the Casa de Moneda de Mexico.
