Together with the much smaller ships Pinta and Niña, the Santa Maria was one of the expedition ships on Christopher Columbus' world-famous explorations. In August 1492, Columbus set out to explore a sea route to India and instead discovered America. However, in December 1492, the Santa Maria then ran aground off the island of Hispaniola, which today corresponds to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and could not be salvaged. The limited silver coin in color is delivered in a capsule including a product card.
