"Polish circulation banknotes from 1975-1996".
NBP album on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the denomination

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the denomination, the National Bank of Poland prepared a unique attraction for collectors. Already on 16 April, the National Bank will launch an album containing a collection of all 23 circulating notes with face value of 10 zlotys to 2,000,000 old zlotys, which were used by the Poles before the denomination conducted in 1995. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a full collection of banknotes issued by the NBP in 1975-1993.

- Many Poles remember perfectly well both the denomination from 1995 and banknotes with millions of denominations. However, collector's sets prepared by the NBP are not only a sentimental souvenir, but also a witness to the history of this period. The 20th anniversary of the denomination is a good opportunity to recall economic changes in Poland from the perspective of our everyday life - through the banknotes we used in 1975-1996 - explains Barbara Jaroszek, deputy director of the NBP Treasury and Issuing Department.

The album contains banknotes in the so-called a banking position from the series "Great Poles" designed by Andrzej Heidrich, the author of all images of Polish circulation banknotes issued from the 1970s to the present. The set also includes a unique 200,000 PLN note with the image of Warsaw, deviating in style and subject matter from the other banknotes from this period. All banknotes in the album were produced in the Polish Security Printing Works.

The denomination of the zloty was carried out on January 1, 1995 on the basis of the Act of 7 July 1994. Pursuant to the provisions of the act on denomination, a new monetary unit was introduced with the value "PLN", which is worth 10,000 old zlotys. The smallest amount to be exchanged was 100 old zlotys, or 1 grosz. Pursuant to the Act, all banknotes issued by the NBP before 1995 are not legal tender in Poland, and from January 1, 2011 are no longer subject to exchange.
