This beautiful silver coin is Helios The Sun God’ coin and it is the 6th issue in the awarded ‘Gods of the World’ series. In ancient Greek religion and mythology Helios is the god of the Sun. In ancient art he is often depicted with a radiant crown riding his horse carriage through the sky. It’s said he rides his chariot every day from east to west rising and setting the sun. As his position of sun, he was all seeing and often called as a witness in oaths. Although worshipped throughout ancient Greece his major centre was on Rhodes. The Colossus of Rhodes was a gigantic statue of Helios and one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

The reverse of the coin depicts Helios, the Sun God and the inscription: “HELIOS” – the name of the God. Helios drives his horse-drawn chariot through the sky wearing a radiant crown. In the background a Greek temple devoted to him is depicted.
The obverse side of the coin depicts the standard Coat of Arms with Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “COOK ISLANDS” (the issuing country), “2022” (the year of issue) and “20 DOLLARS” (the face value).
