Obverse: Mexican Coat of Arms - an eagle with a serpent in its beak and talon. Inscription: "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS."
Reverse: Angel of Independence holding a laurel crown and broken chains in her hands. A Mexican landscape features its two famous volcanoes, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Engravings include the weight, purity, and year of mintage.
